GMARA Race Philosophy

When we design a course we want the main challenge to be the navigation. Teams that navigate well should finish the course significantly faster than teams that don't. Our second priority is to have the race be an incredible adventure for the new racers while providing a significant challenge for the experienced athletes. We strive to create courses where every racer gets to try every discipline, even if they don't reach all the checkpoints.

Several of our club members have been designing and directing races for years. For the past few years we've offered one summer race and one winter race each year, which keeps us busy but still allows us to get out and race ourselves. In 2012, we added our first night race, and we're excited to see what 2013 brings!
